Shoot for a Cause

Once again, Alfalfa Electric Cooperative participated in Shoot for the Nations, an annual sporting clays fundraising event hosted by the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives and the Oklahoma Energy Trails Foundation. AEC sponsored two teams at the event, which took place at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports in Guthrie on Sept. 8.

AEC’s first team included KEITH ELLERBECK, NEIL METCALF, KASHEN JACKSON and COY TROUTT. The second group included KODY GIBSON, PATRICK LYONS, CLAYTON ROBERTS and MATTHEW JENLINK. These teams were two of the 48 teams that participated in the event. In three flights, there were 192 shooters representing 25 cooperatives from Oklahoma. Winners from each flight and individual scores were recognized.

OAEC partners with the National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association International to improve access to electricity in developing nations. This year, Shoot for the Nations raised $50,684 to support future international electrification projects!

The event is not possible without the support of over 100 volunteers. Western Farmers Electric Cooperative, AEC’s generation and transmission provider, donated and served the meals to the participants.

Shoot for the Nations is an excellent example of the cooperative way. AEC is proud to partner in improving the quality of life for local communities at home and abroad.
