Two outstanding students, Henzley Thomas from Timberlake High School and Katelee Martin from Alva High School, were selected by Alfalfa Electric Cooperative to join 35 other remarkable young leaders at the 2025 Oklahoma Electric Cooperatives Leadership Summit. This inspiring event took place on March 17, 2025, at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. The Leadership Summit is an annual program designed to empower and celebrate high school students from across the state. Participants received a $500 scholarship and left with a renewed passion for community leadership. Since its inception, this program has recognized the leadership potential of over 550 Oklahoma high school students, encouraging them to grow as leaders in their schools and communities. The 2025 summit featured two dynamic and engaging speakers, Kelly Barnes and Bill Cordes, who brought energy, humor and invaluable lessons to the stage. Through inspiring stories and actionable strategies, the speakers equipped students with the tools to set impactful goals, stay true to their values, and approach new challenges with confidence. Reflecting on her experience, Henzley shared, “This experience pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and meet new people I’d never encountered before, and I had a great time! The speakers were incredible and shared valuable lessons that will stick with me for life. Katelee returned home motivated and inspired to lead in her community, reinforced by the insights and encouragement gained during the summit.
