As a member-owned cooperative, Alfalfa Electric Cooperative does more than provide reliable electricity—we also make a significant investment in the future of our communities through local school funding. In 2025, AEC and our power supplier, Western Farmers Electric Cooperative, contributed $1,923,690.57in tax revenue to support school districts across northwest Oklahoma and south-central Kansas. Although electric cooperatives operate as not-for-profit organizations, we pay a gross receipts tax along with other applicable business taxes, generating important revenue that benefits local education. These funds help provide essential resources for students, teachers, and schools throughout the communities we serve. The amount each district receives is based on the number of miles of electric distribution and transmission lines located within its boundaries.
