Unlike investor-owned utilities, Alfalfa Electric Cooperative isn’t run by distant shareholders. Our cooperative is governed by a member-elected Board of Trustees — your friends, neighbors, and local business owners who understand the unique needs of our service area.
They are elected to three-year terms and are responsible for representing the interests of all members across the Cooperative’s service area. Because we are a cooperative, you have the power to vote in board elections and even run for a trustee position yourself. This ensures that decisions are made locally, by people who understand and care about the communities we serve.
What does your board do?
- Hires and oversees the CEO, who manages day-to-day activities
- Supports long-term planning to ensure reliable, affordable service for years to come
- Sets business policies that guide the cooperative’s operations
